Goals
The Corporate Connection initiative was created to help companies tap into the Society as a diversity partner. We do this by in a number of ways. We let companies know of the innovative programs the Society offers, we tailor programs for the company, and we support and expand Society initiatives.

This year, our specific goals are to:
- Deepen our corporate connections with our corporate sponsors – to improve employee engagement through Society initiatives (speakers, tours, participation at the local, regional, and national levels). Specifically, our goal is to hold a minimum of 3 “SWE Engagement” Corporate sponsor meetings
- Expand our corporate connections. Specifically add two new Gold/Platinum Sponsors and two new Bronze/Silver Sponsors
- Add one new ”SWE Specialty Scholarship Fund” (ie a Civil Engineering Scholarship Fund)
How you can help
- As an employee, everyone has the opportunity to get their company more engaged in SWE. You can do this by joining our e-mail distribution list, forwarding our newsletters to your colleagues, inviting them to our happy hours and programs. And once a year, during our annual spring fundraising event, let your company know specifically how they can support SWE-San Diego.
- As a Corporate Diversity Partner, SWE-San Diego is here to support you. We can help guide you with “insider” SWE knowledge, how to tap into the initiatives the Society has to offer at the local San Diego, Regional and National Levels quickly, seamlessly and efficiently. Feel free to contact our President to host an educational forum within your company. Our leadership can meet with interested employees, the HR team, or executives themselves. As the center for research on women engineers, SWE has several ideas, tips and programs that can build your engagement, retention and effectiveness in recruiting the next generation of engineers.
- Join us. Join our Corporate Sponsors – our partners in diversity. Join us at one of our signature events. Allow us to create a custom program to meet your needs.
History of Corporate Connections
The Corporate Connections initiative was formed in 2011 to support members in getting their companies more engaged within the Society and to shore up corporate support.
To kick start the effort, SWE-San Diego held its premiere Executive Round Table on Feb 1st, 2012. The event was geared towards local corporate executives, including engineering VPs, plant managers, global diversity managers, and affinity group sponsors. Society leaders showcased the initiatives SWE offers, at the local, regional and national levels. We also explored how SWE could help companies meet our common recruiting and retention goals.
The invitation only event was divided into three segments:
