Letting young women know about rewarding careers in engineering is a vital part of the Society of Women Engineers. SWE San Diego is involved in many STEM outreach programs throughout San Diego.

SWE San Diego STEM Outreach Opportunities
Elementary School (Grades K-5)
Middle School (Grades 6-8)
High School (Grades 9-12)
If you would like to get involved and join us in one of these programs as a day-of volunteer, or to help on a planning committee or as a mentor, please visit the main Outreach page on this website for more information, sign up on our volunteer list, or contact our Outreach Director.
- At this time, our elementary outreach programs are coordinated with specific schools and not open for public registration. Contact our Outreach Director if you are an educator interested in coordinating an outreach presentation or event.
Middle School (Grades 6-8)

Additional STEM Organizations and Events for Young Women in San Diego
- Envision - A day-long activity for high school girls to introduce them to engineering and UCSD. Hosted by the SWE-UCSD Student Section. Also includes a parallel program for parents. Envision information can be found here.
- Peer Engineering Program (PEP) - This program will give students the opportunity to work on a engineering project team under the guidance of college engineering students. Each team will consist of 3-4 students and who will be put together based on their interests. PEP information can be found here.
- Association for Women in Science (AWIS) SD – AWIS is committed to supporting the advancement of women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields, by providing opportunities to participate in professional networking, mentoring and leadership activities. AWIS outreach website.
- AWIS STEM Career Conference – an event for high school and college level young women to inspire, connect, and guide those interested in STEM careers.
- 2018 Conference: Sat Feb 10th, 8am-5pm
- San Diego County Engineering Council (SDCEC) – The council coordinates and supports engineering week (E-week information) and activities within the community. SDCEC’s mission is to advance the public awareness of the engineering profession as a worthwhile career. SD outreach events shared with SDCEC found here or in calendar form here.
