SWE San Diego Senior Division 

SWE San Diego Senior Division First Place to Sanjana Kumar, a Junior at Francis Parker School for her “Utilizing 3D-Printed Engineered Living Materials to Break Down Environmental Pollutants” Earth and Environmental Sciences exhibit. Ms. Kumar received a Science Fair First Award, was CaSEF Qualified, and she was the Grand Award Runner Up #2 in the Senior Division Life Sciences. She was also honored by the US Agency for International Development, the Association for Women in Science, the Torrey Pines Docent Society, the General Atomics Sciences Education Foundation, the American Academy of Pediatrics Climate Change and Health Committee, and the American Society of Civil Engineers. And, she received the Regeneron Biomedical Award.


SWE San Diego Senior Division Second Place to Jocelyn Zhang, a Junior at Del Norte High School for her ”Enhanced Photoluminescence Performance of Porous Silicon Quantum Dots for Bioimaging Application” Energy, Materials, and Transport Engineering exhibit. Ms. Zhang received a Science Fair First Award and was CaSEF Qualified. She was also honored by DRS Daylight Solutions, the San Diego Chapter of American Society of Materials International, and PECG.


SWE San Diego Senior Division Third Place to Vidha Yadav Ganji, a Junior at Del Norte High School for her “Machine-Learning Based Early Detection of Breast Cancer Using Blood-Based Biomarkers” Computational Biology and Bioinformatics exhibit. Ms. Ganji received a Science Fair First Award and was CaSEF Qualified.

SWE San Diego Junior Division 

SWE San Diego Junior Division First Place to Kayley Xu, an 8th grader at The Bishop’s School, for her “Respiratory Sound Classification Using AI” Computer Science and Systems Software exhibit. Ms.Xu received a Science Fair First Award and was CaSEF Qualified and she was the Grand Award Junior Division Physical Sciences award recipient. Also she received a Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge Award and she was honored by the Association for Women in Science.


SWE San Diego Junior Division Second Place to Emily Diep, a 7th grader at Connect Academy for her “Virtual Piano Teacher - Personalized Piano Lessons” Computer Science and Systems Software exhibit. Ms. Diep received a Science Fair First Award and was CaSEF Qualified. She also received a Broadcom Coding with Commitment Award and a Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge Award.


SWE San Diego Junior Division Third Place to Lyla Ko, a 7th grader at St. Gregory the Great School for her ”The Effects of Light and Distance on Face ID” Computer Science and Systems Software exhibit. Ms. Ko received a Science Fair Second Award.
