SWE San Diego Senior Division 

Senior Division First Place to Angelina Kim, a Junior at The Bishop's School for her "An Autonomous Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) System for Ocean Hazard Recognition and Rescue" Engineering: Electrical, Mechanical, and Robotics exhibit. Ms. Kim received a Science Fair First Award, was CaSEF Qualified, and she was the Grand Award Recipient in the Senior Division Physical Sciences. She was also honored by the Armed Forces Communications & Electronics Association (AFCEA), and the Office of Naval Research.


Senior Division Second Place to Aarushi Garg, a Junior at Canyon Crest Academy for her "A Novel Deep Learning Technique to Predict Rhegmatogenous Retinal Detachment Using Ultrawide Fundus Images" Computational Biology and Bioinformatics exhibit. Ms. Garg received a Science Fair First Award and was CaSEF Qualified. She was also honored by the Association for Women in Science.


Senior Division Third Place to Kayley Xu, a Freshman at The Bishop's School for her "A Comprehensive Approach to Addressing Respiratory Disease" Computer Science and Systems Software exhibit. Ms. Xu received a Science Fair First Award and was CaSEF Qualified. She was also honored by the Association for Women in Science and she received a Kaiser Permanente Blue Ribbon Award.


SWE San Diego Junior Division 

Junior Division First Place to Emily Diep, an 8th grader at Connect Academy, for her “A Single Case Pilot Study of an AI-driven Speech Therapy Game for Children with Articulation Challenges Using a Smart Bracelet” Biomedical/Health Sciences, and Biomedical Engineering exhibit. Ms. Diep received a Science Fair First Award and was CaSEF Qualified. She was also honored by the Association for Women in Science.


Junior Division Second Place to Virginia Zhu, an 8th grader at Oak Valley Middle School for her “Smart Watering System: Electronic Sensor” Engineering: Electrical, Mechanical, and Robotics exhibit. Ms. Zhu received a Science Fair First Award and was CaSEF Qualified. She was also honored by BIA Cares, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Armed Forces Communications & Electronics Association (AFCEA),  and the Junior Innovators Challenge (Thermo Fisher JIC).


Junior Division Third Place to Medha Ravi, an 8th grader at The Rhoades School for her ”Quantifying Heat Emissions from Alternatives to Synthetic Grass” Earth and Environmental Sciences exhibit. Ms. Ravi received a Science Fair Second Award and was also honored by the Association for Women Geoscientists.
