The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is the world’s largest advocate and catalyst for change for women in engineering and technology. Since 1982, the SWE San Diego County Professional Section (SWE SD) has proudly advanced the image of engineering and technology professionals by offering unique opportunities to connect, grow, and lead. Through networking, professional development, and outreach, we inspire the next generation, especially young girls, to explore careers in STEM. Our members represent a wide range of engineering fields and STEM disciplines, reflecting the diversity and strength of our community.
SWE San Diego - Chartered in 1982, the San Diego County Professional Section (SWE-SD) has grown into one of the largest SWE sections in the nation. Our innovative programs and publications have earned national recognition, while our growth and the achievements of our dynamic leaders have attracted attention on a global scale.
The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is a not-for-profit educational and service organization that empowers women to succeed and advance in the field of engineering, and to be recognized for their life-changing contributions as engineers and leaders. Founded in 1950, SWE is the driving force that establishes engineering as a highly desirable career for women through an exciting array of training and development programs, networking opportunities, scholarships, outreach and advocacy activities, and much more.
SWE-San Diego is led by an elected, volunteer Executive Council dedicated to ensuring the Section’s financial health and advancing its professional impact. Our officers and committee chairs work collaboratively to set ambitious local goals for growth and visibility, while aligning with the Society’s broader strategic plan. We are fortunate to have such talented and committed individuals generously contribute their time, energy, and expertise in support of SWE’s mission.
Our members represent a wide range of industries, including government, defense, research, consulting, and manufacturing. No matter your engineering discipline, you’ll find a welcoming community of like-minded professionals ready to connect, inspire, and collaborate.
