SWE San Diego offers several ways for you to engage in Section activities.
Subscribe to the SWE San Diego Newsletter (join our mailing list is at the footer)
Fill in the "Volunteer Interest Form" located at the footer and/or email the committee chair directly for any specific interests.
Join a "Committees meeting" - Active committees typically have monthly meetings that are identified in our events calendar. You can request to join a particular meeting by emailing the contact or committee chair prior to the meeting.
Consider becoming an officer of the Section. The call for officer section nominations typically begins in March.

PROFESSIONALS - Global SWE membership is handled through SWE headquarters and aligns with the fiscal year, from July 1 to June 30th. There are various types of professional memberships (Professional, K12 Educator, Life, Retired, Unemployed). To sign up, go directly to the SWE.org site here: https://swe.org/membership/
Select "San Diego County" as your Community Group when registering
SWE will generally offer a 50% discount from January 1 - March 31
STUDENTS - Global SWE also offers options for students to belong in SWE:
Collegiate students may obtain a student membership through SWE.org "membership". For college students who do not have a "section" at their college, you may affiliate with the "San Diego County Section" and consider creating a section or affiliate at your college; here is the Section and Affiliate Map with more information.
Younger K12 students, may affiliate with SWE by joining (subscribing) to the no-cost SWENext program. Students will receive a SWENext newsletter with global events, competitions, role models and opportunities. The global SWE.org "programs" tab offers several means for educators, students and professionals to engage, support and to potentially even start their own club. NOTE: Any volunteer who engages with youth under the age of 18 must complete the SWE.org outreach Youth Protection training. (See additional notes below)
Working with / Volunteering with STUDENTS UNDER THE AGE OF 18. Everyone who works with Students under the Age of 18 must comply with SWE YOUTH PROTECTION requirements.
Adults/students must complete the required SWE Youth Protection training and renew their certification every three years
Students who wish to engage with / volunteer with professionals / professional section / must sign, along with their parent-guardian, the Minor Permission Form and Minor Media Release Forms and notify the people you are working with that you have completed the forms.
